Since everything else inside are LED's, I decided to replace the vanity bulbs with LED's
Knowing what the fasteners look like beforehand is 90% of the battle of doing these things, so:
Drivers side - stick a small screwdriver in the left side:
Passenger side, again, pry out from the left side:
old bulb and new LED:
old light:
new light
When inserting the LED, be sure to test first before putting things back. If it doesn't work, try removing the LED and turning it 180degrees and reinserting. The drivers side went fine. When it came to the passenger, the LED didn't light up, even after rotating it. I put the old bulb in, still nothing. I thought I busted something by accident. As I put everything back so that I can cry, it worked. The light won't come on if the visor is pushed too far toward the windshield...
I'll hardly use the vanity lights, but wanted to get all the lights in the car whitish, instead of the orangish light of the vanity bulbs.
hey typocl, do you know if i could do the opposite than what you did with the rest of the cabin lights ? i prefer the orangish light of the vanity bulbs than the whitish...
I don't think you can. Ken from HIDPowerhouse said all those are sealed (or maybe he meant integrated - I don't want to take things apart to check) and that's why he doesn't offer LED upgrades for those.
I take it a suggestion of an orange pen or orange tint would be helpful... =)
They come in a set of two for $4.97 shipped. So, when you say that you bought a pair for $9.94, you mean that you bought a pair of two (four bulbs).
I'm stating (what I hope is) the obvious so others won't buy more than they need.
Speaking of one's age in the manner above is not helping Lexus to convey a youthful image for the NX... and I suppose that doting over vanity lights is not helping to disprove that the NX is a "girl" car.
BTW, for the ebay auction where the location is "United States" or "Santa Clara", I swear, I think it's all the same group using different ebay accounts and different pricing structures. But at least it ships quick and doesn't have to go overseas.
I've been geeking out on LED's recently, helping friends with upgrading their interior lights.
thanks for these instructions changed my vanity and cargo in less than 10 mins, now waiting for the Reverse light LED!
Resurrected an old thread...thanks for the instructions. The weather has cooled and was able to isolate a really annoying rattle to the vanity light. Hoping it's a loose bulb or something easily remedied.

Simple fix and something that may be present in other vehicles. The plastic frame and clear lens housing were the source of the rattle. I wedged a few pieces of folded cardstock along the edges which took care of the play between the two parts. I also added one layer of tape to tighten up the fit between the bulb housing and frame. I really like the NX but expected a much quieter car. It's not a big deal to fix these sorts of things but sort of surprising based on the reputation of Lexus and cost. It's such a pain to continually go in for service that I try to do what I can on my own, with the help of fellow forum members. Off the soapbox now.
