Default It's snowing today in Seattle... who here has picked up winter tires?

I just tried to get up my driveway and onto the road and almost crashed my new IS250. I've never had a RWD car before, so the whole fish-tailing thing was difficult to keep under control. I had to turn around and go back to my parking spot. I don't know what I'm going to do for work tomorrow morning.

Has anyone here picked up some winter tires? I need some recommendations. Do they sell studded tires in the Seattle area, or is it illegal? Because my driveway is pretty steep, and I'm not sure just regular winter tires will do the trick.

You can get winter tires but be careful none the less. I just got cable chains for my sc. Drive slowly and pretend the gas pedal is a fragile already chipped rotten egg you dont want to break. Try hard not to use the breaks much eather, that can lead to more slipage. There's not much you can do once you are sliding off the road. I have summer tires on year round even though thats probally not the best idea.

I can't afford to own two cars... the 2IS is it. That's why I'm looking for recommendations for Winter tires.

I hope he is. And if he isn't, I'd settle for a nice set of snow tires.

I heard Bridgestone Blizzak tires are good for Snow/Ice traction. There is a winter tires and wheels package deal here on Club Lexus from Tire Rack. Here is the link: http://sr1.clublexus.com/forums/showthread.php?t=244220

It will be $1,554 plus shipping for both wheels and Blizzak tires. As for me, I have another beater car so I am not planning to drive my IS350 when there is snow outside.

Found this on the washington state dept of transportation site:
http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/winter/

Approved passenger car traction tires have at least an eighth of an inch of tread and are labeled "Mud and Snow," "M+S," "All Season," or have a "Mountain/Snowflake," symbol. These tires can be used year-round. Studded tires are approved traction tires. In Washington, studded tires are legal for use between November 1 through April 1.

bridgestone blizzaks will serve you well as snow tires.

I'm not even moving my GS4 out of the garage until the snow goes away, i'll be driving the LX, RX, or the Previa (AWD, things a "beast") till then

It is 1:44 AM right now and my girlfriend is still stuck on I-405 N (since 4:30 PM), horrible ice and snow, accidents everywhere. Glad we got the AWD IS250 for her now.

I can't find any place that has winter tires in the right size for my 2IS... what gives? Granted, I've only done internet searches, so I'll call the actual stores once they open, but still... you'd think at this time of year it wouldn't be a problem regardless of my rear wheels being staggered.

How is her IS250 AWD holding up in this snow/ice condition? Can she get around ok with her 250 on snow/ice?

The RX is an awesome car in the snow. Just slow down and pump the brakes, should do fine.
