On my commute to work this morning drove next to a 1st gen red IS. Lowered, rear black emblems, 18", dark tinted windows, and exhaust.

^^^^ Sounds like one at my work. Were the wheels polished on the face and painted black between the spokes? Multi-spoke wheel?
