I want to build it and learn. I like building model cars, but cant do anything with them, but put them away from pets and kids.

Im between getting a buggy or a Drift version. I like jumping and drifting. Might start with a buggy first. Just got to figure it out which one I want. So many to choose from

So which one is better, price or model?

I want to do jumps, so do I find one with oil shocks?

Start with a buggy for sure. Hone your skills before you jump into a nice car. Dont get anything too expensive.
How much are you looking to spend ? That will help us point you in the right direction.

I was looking around $300 with radio and all accessories. Upgrades will be done, as needed. Unless there is something I need, when I get it.

I was looking at these 2 buggies. 2 wheel and 4 wheel. One has added stuff, while the other doesnt, but costs more.

4wheel $400 with radio
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXSLD1&P=7
2wheel $265 with radio
Includes Over $150 worth of Factory Team upgrades.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGZW7&P=7

Will I need anything more, than what I see for the price?

Thats an excellent car. The old school team associated RC-10 is what I was rockin in the mid to late 80's. To this day one of my favorite cars.

Which radio and battery pack do I need. Also, do I need a servo U?

I was reading up on it, and it states that it comes with, Clear Proline buggy body with adjustable rear wing. But its also stating that I need a body as well.

And the add ons are at the bottom of the page. While looking at this model, let me know what all I need to get.
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...?&I=LXGZW7&P=7

REQUIRES: 2CH RADIO, 8 AA BATTERIES FOR RADIO, BODY, 6 CELL BATTERY, SPEED CONTROL, MOTOR, PINION GEAR, CHARGER, BUILDING & FIELD EQUIPMENT

Electric for a beginner like me. And I see that I need a motor/pinion gear/speed control and a lot more. Its adding up to $400. I might just go with 2 wheel vs 4 wheel. Cost efficient.

I calculated the 4 wheel version, and its going to be around $500-600

If he has anythign thats not RTR, then I would be interested. Just let him know that I am a beginner, but want to build it as well.

I went to a hobby store near me and looked at what they had. OMG, there is so many different stuff you can do and add and add and of course add...LOL

I called RC hobby in Covington. They have to order, since they dont carry many buggies in stock. Mostly 4x4's and RTR's.

Which is better to learn. 4 wheel drive or 2 wheel drive?
And if you can help me, let me know what I need to upgrade the common break downs on Electric RC buggy

I think around $400 with everything. I have absolutely nothing.

Let me know

EDIT: This is what I have been deciding on for a day. And I think I might go with 2 wheel, unless someone tells me other wise

This is everything that I might/will need. Not sure though

Hey the links don't work, but for a buggy get RWD for sure. For the drifting and road cars you'll want 4WD because I had a Tamiya TL-01 (rail chassis) set up that came as 4WD but I converted it to RWD and it was just a pain in the *** to keep in a straight line. Of course I added a 23 turn motor, lith. ion battery, and 19 gearing to the little beast Sorry it probably doesn't make sense to you, but it was a fast little car. Moral of the story.... Get RWD for the buggy. I hope to get a buggy soon, maybe we can go break them together sometime.

Im beginning to understand a little. But which battery should I get and do I need a servo U along with my radio?

I was thinking of a 30min charger for quick in and out tme.

Here is the link that should work. And its the buggy I am looking into getting.

Thats a good rig. Follow thru with that decision. Now get the last few items on this list http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin...I=ASCC9035&E=N
Its got an ESC (Electronic Speed Control)
Energizer AA batteries for the remote
7.2V 1500mah battery pack
and a charger for the 7.2V pack
Only 87bux for that option. So if you get the car/radio combo for 264 that puts you at just over 350 for a awsome first car.
If I were building a setup, I would invest a little more for a better ESC and multiple batteries. Also when your looking at battery packs, the mah or milliamp ratings coorelate to how long you can run the car before the battery dies. Dont forget the battery only takes 15minutes to charge.
But a 1500mah may run for 5+min where a 3600mah pack may run 15 or more.
Run a hotter motor with different turn ratings, hotter brushes or more timing and the run times will shorten but the fun factor goes way up.

EDIT:

Okay, so I made a mock up of what I think I might need. Please let me know if I am missing anything.
I got the buggy, radio, charger, 1900mAh NiCds(x2), motor and solder leads, pinion gear(6pack). I can get AA batteries anywhere, for cheaper. Is there a specific type of AA battery that will work better?
http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wto0149p

I think the cashe in your computer is holding all the info. The link doesnt work.
I had put together an extensive list last night but the page timed out.
Looks like a good combo though. For AA batteries I use the energizer rechargables. They work awsome and last for a long time before needing to be charged.
