Default Bay Area Future Activities: Road Racing, Drag Racing, Dyno Day

ROAD RACING
Two years ago, my bud Roger Foo just stepped up from rookie of the year to a full time factory backed race team. In our younger days, we used to race our street cars on bay area back roads. Later, we got smart and started to go auto crossing. Roger continued to pursue racing full time and he's done well. This year he has joined a new 2 car team:

The Speed racing series has two classes: GT (Porsche, Audi, BMW M series, etc.) and Touring Car (Acura, Mazda, Lexus, BMW 3 series, etc.) and all the races are televised on The Speed Channel (On satellite and some cable systems).

If anyone is interested in going to the next race at Laguna Seca some time this summer, PM me and I will create an e-mail notification list. Of course we'll also be able to hang with Roger and ask questions.

DRAG RACES
Sears Point has announced the season opening of Wednesday night drag racing on March 5. This is open to all street cars. This is a great opportunity to learn how to launch a car properly and to appreciate why drag racing is growing in popularity.

I know it's not easy for everyone to get free on a Wednesday evening, but let me know who's interested and I will coordinate the best Wednesday night to go up. They will be open every Wednesday night starting in March thru the summer.

DYNO DAY
A performance shop up in Hayward has offered to dyno our cars for $10 per run (3 run minimum). We need a minimum of 15 cars to get this pricing. This is open to all LexusClub members as a 1st priority and if there are extra slots available, then others are welcome too.

Again PM me if you are interested and I will coordinate.

Glen,

2/3 aint bad, count me in on the dyno and the drag racing.

My initial goals are simple: beat you at the strip, beat you at the dyno and not come in last at the karting. Well, maybe I can stretch that last goal a bit. It may take a while to achieve or may not happen, but with age comes perspective. This is not simple competition but rather an effort to improve myself -- and I have always done that by learning from someone better.

I'm with ya Chris.

We all better ourselves in one way or another whether we help each other out or compete. That competitive spirit is what makes this country great. A lot of us local members have had a lot of fun over the past year doing a broad range of activities and our gang is only growing as more locals join.

What's up Glen...

I am down to check things out. But due to being all stock right now, I think I will have to 'hold up the wall' or 'warm the bench' for the team... ...but I am down to go with...

All -- Check the Lobby. Hermosa is trying to get a dyno event going at ATP in Fremont. Make sure to chime in if you are interested. Glen & Chris, it would be nice to see how the cars do on a different dyno.

Thanks to all who have responded so far. I'll provide an update on the various activities as I know more.

Redgs4,
I spoke to Hermosa before about setting up a dyno day at ATP. Let me follow up with him and see if we can sync up this particular activity.
