Default sc300 need help, fuel chopping.

Recently bought my sc300 off of fb marketplace, the car idles fine but when pressing down on the throttle it gives gas and stops giving gas over and over every second, but it’s not leaking anywhere. This leads to flooding the engine with gas and it shutting off after a few seconds of holding the throttle down. Like it’s chopping the gas, any advice is appreciated!

Hello,

A video of the issue would be helpful.

Not sure what you mean to be perfectly honest, there is less gas causing more fuel in the engine..?

Try taking at least a few spark plugs out after letting the car stall to see if they will be wet with fuel, that way you will know that it doesn't get burned, and not that it lacks fuel. You can also take the Return line off of the fuel rack to see if the pump is creating enough flow to keep the engine running. Next check the strength of the spark using this tool, a good coil should be able to strike through about 8-10mm of air, if it's not, there is a good chance you have issues with the coil.

That's about all I can think of for now, as more information is needed before drawing any conclusions.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

Heres a video of the car “chopping gas” hopefully it gives a more clear explanation. Thank you.

Huh, sounds like an RPM cutout, but a lot sooner than it needs to happen. I am assuming you don't have an OBD2 port, so try using an LED Test Light In Parallel to one of the Injectors and to one of the Coils to see what cuts out, but more likely than not, you will have to pay a visit to the ECU, as those are prone to failure in those cars, and it really doesn't sound like a mechanical malfunction.

Hope this helps and best of luck!

You may want to check out the condition on your ECU. The capacitors that leak onto the PC boards and disrupting the traces cause numerous “gremlins” that results in a lot of rabbits being chased (and catching none). If nothing else, send it out for testing/assessment and repair for peace of mind.

I like SIA Engineering for this service. Takes about a week, though, unless you have a known, good spare.
