Default New fix for outside mirror

My SC 300 mirror was repaired twice before, and the tube was mangled. What I did was put a long thin bolt down the center of the tube (with a small washer on top), right next to the wires. On the bottom of the support, I put a washer and nut to tighten the spring down. I used a weaker spring. This will never fail again!!!!

I would try to get some wire loom down there, alongside the washer, so the wires don't get their sheaths worn through.

On the bottom photo, you will see the OEM sleeve. That should be good enough for down there. For the top, I was concerned that the wire insulation would "flow" under the pressure and cause a short to the washer. A wire to wire short is unlikely. So, (it doesn't show), I put a thin nylon washer under the metal washer to prevent a short. So, I got this covered, in my opinion.

I have no idea what that means.

Wires losing their signal carrying capability is the primary concern. Shorting to each other or to the body is secondary.
