so I was just changing out my battery terminal ends and was have a brain freeze, the wire that I'm holding connects to the positive terminal correct? so the positive terminal will have two wires attached to it and the negative terminal only has one. let me know if that sounds right

Scratch my original answer, you weren't asking about the negative terminal itself, which is the one by the fender... I'm not sure what that additional cable is you're holding, but most add-ons are for amplifiers or junction blocks and would go to the positive terminal, since they don't usually need ground straight from the battery.

Might also be an idea to mark the positive cable with red paint or nail varnish, for future reference.
