The 1JZ is a 2.5 liter and not the easiest motor to find parts for in the US. I would turbo the 2JZGE before swapping in a 1JZ.

If you are going to go 600rwhp then expect to pay the same amount as with a 2JZ-GE but then add $10500 for the 2JZ-GTE swap.

Yes but then you buy a turbo kit for the 2JZ-GTE if you want alot of power anyway.

Depends on how much power you want. If you want 450rwhp you have to upgrade some parts. Probably only $1000-2000 in parts. If you want 600rwhp then you change the turbos and some other stuff. You can stay twins with the HKS twin replacement which costs around $10k or you can go with a single turbo kit much like the one you would buy for the NA.

ok...so let me get this straight?...for the N/A-T setup I will be spenging around 10 - 11 grand to get about 400-450 rwhp. But if i was to get the GTE swap i would spend about 11 grand on the swap which will pull about 450 rwhp and then spend another 10 grand to get about 600+ rwhp?...thats twice as much as the N/A-T setup...man....looks like i can only afford the N/A-T...thanks for your info

I am a strong beleiver in the NA-T. I just don't see the sense in doing the GTE swap, it costs a fortune.

I believe if I could get my ignition trouble figured out, I could shoot for 700rwhp on race gas. Some of you think that you need more power than that.... then just build the GE motor, it will still be cheaper than doing a GTE swap.

Just my $0.02

If you do go NA-T then I do recommend DaveH's intake manifold.

For those of you old enough it's like a McDLT. Keeps the cold side cold and the hot side hot...

Really though, it separates the hot exhaust manifold side from the intake side which helps the charge from getting extra heat after exit from the turbo and also on the return trip from the intercooler.

Also, it looks better and comes polished.

Lastly it lets you have better clearance for other items like strut bars and enables you to easily change spark plugs which takes a long time with the stock manifold.

For $670 it is a great addition to anyone's car.
