Default 1992 Lexus sc400 DTC 71 HELP.

Hello I’ve been trying to diagnose this issues for a few weeks now and I’ve been reading around. So far I’ve changed my temp probe and a stepper motor from the junk yard and it’s still saying dtc71. I’ve noticed there’s a slight stumble at 1300-1800 rpm but goes away afterwards. I’ve also disconnected the battery and tried to clear it but it comes right back immediately, the code. The car has been sitting since 2013 and we’ve got it from the original owner. I checked the ecu and noticed 1 bad cap I’ve replaced it but I don’t know if the whole ecu needs to be rebuilt.
Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated!

If 1 cap is leaking already, your best bet would be to get it rebuilt. Stop throwing parts at it. Throw parts at it once you have ruled the ECU out completely.

Send the ECU to SIA for diagnosis and repair/rebuild. Having a “clean” ECU will provide peace of mind and prevent gremlin chasing….
