Hello everyone. I've recently been having problems with my 93 SC400, started a couple days ago. I got in it and the ignition wouldn't turn past ACC. I have some experience with old lexuses and figured it was the steering lock, the lock wasn't engaged but I engaged it and with some jiggling and a couple attempts it worked and got the car started. This issue has now been happening everytime I get in the car and start it, besides one occasion. It doesn't seem to be related to whether my wheels are turned or not when I park the car. Just curious if anyone knows what causes this issue and what I need to replace or fix. Thanks in advance for any help.

The ignition lock cylinder is getting worn out. I do not know if Lexus can cut you a new key from the VIN number, you could try that first. Making a copy of your worn key is pointless. You need to do something quickly, if the lock gets stuck & will not turn you will have to drill it out to replace it. Replacing it while still functional only requires pressing a button to release it from the housing.
