Default SC400 Piston Rings

well, just found out my 95 SC4 is burning oil due to worn piston rings. was wondering if any of you have recommendations on what type to get and if you know the bore size etc etc of the engine. was wondering if i could pick up one of those rings from summitracing.com. dad gets the catalogs now and then and i scrolled thru to see a couple types of piston rings but dunno what's best. any info be great. TIA

PS. when i replace the piston rings, should i do anything else while it's open? (performance oriented of course )

why not buy new pistons at the same time? you gotta pull em out anyways... might as well get all new gaskets, etc...
might want to get your heads flowtested too; valveseals wear out over time

You could look into getting the cylinders honed depending on how bad the wear is.

Default $10 remedy

Save yourself some money. Go to your nearest Lexus dealer and buy a new PCV vavle. It fits on the driver side valve cover. Chances are that will stop you from burning oil. Same thing happened to me.

I hope Frank's right because replacing rings won't be cheap. And, I've never heard of them failing on our cars- what's your mileage?

If it is your rings it may be more cost-effective to buy another engine from a wrecked car and swap out the whole thing. If it was my car, and the only symptom was oil consumption, I'd buy the oil on sale, add a can of STP once in a while, and live with problem for as long as I could, until it got so bad that I was smoking and losing a noticeable amount of power.
