I've done that at the track just with a torque converter. It was fun when I was there but I came home with most of the track and my tires on my rear bumper
I was sure cussing it up the next day when I was scraping all that tar and rubber off my car.

no formula needed,... i have a conversion program for every type of engineering calculation needed or to ever be desired. Engineers are not required to know everything, but where to find the answers if called upon.

Ryan, no insult taken
With over 500lbs/ft of torque... that display could easily have been BOTH tires.
BTW, coincidentally, a very close conversion for both converting Kw to HP and Nm to TQ is 1.34.
Take the Kw and multiply by 1.34 to get HP or take HP and divide by 1.34 to get Kw.
Take the Nm and divide by 1.34 to get TQ or take TQ and multiply by 1.34 to get Nm.
(the actual Nm to TQ is 1.355 but it is close enough and easier to remember 1.34)
Here are some more supercharging links... enjoy

Guys........I was at the Calder Park drag meet with Neil on the night and can confirm it was an awesome display. Neil's frying of the tyres was repeated on his second run and can be put down to a combination of learning technique as it was his first ever run down the 1/4 mile and the fact that he was just plain having a ball. His runs got much better as the night wore on. Neil ran roughly mid 14s on the night but will be doing plenty more runs in the near future. The man's hooked! The times may not yet be earth shattering but bear in mind this is no stripped out drag car. It runs everything per the showroom model and remember it was also his first try at formal drags. There were other SC400s/Soarers there on the night too. A guy by the name of Andrew Meiers managed a 13.452 on 225 street tyres in his TT. I've attached a pic of Neil doing an awesome burnout prior to a run.
The following day we headed for a dyno day and Neil managed 176Kw and over 700Nm of torque running around 6 pounds of boost. The car's becoming quite a beast and Neil's on an endless quest to develop the thing further. I think you'll hear plenty more about this car.

No.......I live in Canberra, capital of Australia. I know you're probably thinkin'...Canberra.....Never heard of it. We get that a lot. :=) Anyway, I'm fortunate enough to live about 10 minutes from Neil's place and when you say Neil's a great guy you have no idea what an awesome guy he is. He's the most generous and helpful guy I know and if there's anything he doesn't know about these cars chances are it's not worth knowing. He does all the mechanical work on my TT and will also be working on my V8 Limited when it get's here from Japan in a couple of months.
The footage you've seen of Neil at the drags was taken last Friday and was the beginning of an awesome weekend. Neil and his family and my wife and I drove 700km from Canberra to Melbourne to take part. The Friday night we went to the Calder Park drag races in Melbourne and had a blast with a bunch of other members of the ALSC. About 5 guys put their Soarers down the 1/4 mile. Saturday morning we went for a dyno day with a bunch more members and Saturday afternoon we went for cruise with about 15 or so other Soarers/SC400s through some awesome countryside with plenty of hilly/windy forest roads. Then they went for a night cruise that ended about 1AM. Sunday morning about 8AM Neil and his family and my wife and I drove the 700km home together.
Was a full on weekend with heaps of driving but got the chance to get together with many other owners of these awesome cars, all of which were great people, and got a bunch of video camera and still footage. Can't wait to do it all again.
Here are some shots from the weekend:

The guy in the bottom pic with the blue steering wheel is Neil, affectionately known as "Grandpa". Note also in the pics of Neil's car at tthe drags he's removed his headlight to try to get extra airflow to the airbox.

I must say that the power curve is the MOST BIZZARE I have ever seen. It must be one straight up and then straight down on the torque curve. Something is REALLY holding this car back. Probably a combo of exhaust system, ignition timing and fuel curve. To put the above numbers into US perspective the 176Kw = 236hp and the 700Nm = 516tq

The cam timing of the 1UZFE makes peak naturally aspirated torque around 4500rpm. Typically forced induction moves the torque peak up a little in the RPM range but even if it did not and the engine made that 516rwtq at 4500rpm that would = 442rwhp @ 4500rpm

Something is wrong here.
Here are the torque values for each RPM below that would be the MAXIMUM torque at each RPM that would not exceed 236hp. This chart also represents and engine that makes a perfectly flat HP curve staying at 236 from 2400 to 6000rpm... HIGHLY unlikely.
2400 = 515
3000 = 413
3500 = 354
4000 = 310
4500 = 275
5000 = 248
5500 = 225
6000 = 206
That my friends is a dive bombing torque curve. If it could just hold 300tq at 6000rpm you would have 343rwhp.
So, if the power numbers have been accurately reported the BIG news is that this engine will make a 8 liter like 516rwtq at a measly 2400rpm. The BAD news is that something is choking the power off FAST. David Phan made 325rwhp with his twin turbos running 7 psi and using the butt ugly stock exhaust headers.
I would like to see the dyno from this car and the A/F chart.

From the numbers Neil gave me, he was running about 190 HP at the wheels with headers. So that means he added about 50 HP to the wheels with the Supercharger, but, for off the line speed, he almost doubled his torque. His torque is around Viper sized torque. Car should be very quick from 0-60, and maybe 1/8 mile. Probably start to run out of gas after that.
I imagine it will still be quite an improvement over stock.
For the guys wanting to race, they probably will not be happy until turbo, if ever happens. If there is ever a single turbo for the V8, sure would be awesome.
Now, I am running 191 HP to the wheels stock, with a BFI only. Hmmmm...add some mild exhaust cams, JBrady's headers, maybe some porting and polishing, mild engine management. Could be greatly improved. Torque won't be anywhere near Neils, though.
Where is that TURBO??

If I spent a cent on anything "mod" related that cost me more than a couple of hundred, I had better get at least a 45% hp gain,... 230hp at the wheels?? that's silly! I'm with Vssc400 on that one,... SAFCII, ECU, exhaust, BFI, and lightened flywheel ( possibly ) with a torque converter could prove more cost effective and formidable in the Hp arena,... torque, not hardly gonna give 500 ft lbs, but you'd be thousands of dollars richer.
