mounting the coilpack is probably the least of my worrys
but seriously, i dont see why the firewall would be a bad place. again, dont forget the NA valve covers have an indentation in them as well (for the stock intake pipe routing), though i think having the coilpacks there is far too ugly..

thanks for the forum advice, im rather new to the NA 2jz community so i didnt know who frequents which forums, etc.

the 7m guys are going 2jz, unless you know something that they have missed out on by upgrading?
The 7M guys are not going 2JZ. The 2JZGE head does not flow more than a 7MGTE head.

Just thought I would chime in on those two points.

Flow bench numbers for both are posted on SF. With just a little porting the 7M head will outflow a stock 2JZGTE head. If the 2JZ ports however, it's all over then.

One person != everyone is doing it. I've seen FC with a 7M in it. Doesn't mean all the FC guys are running out to do it. There is a grand total of two people running the 2JZ in the a70 chassis on SF. Acouple dozen have done the 1JZ swap though.

The fastest is still a 7M car.

there is more than one, you want me to give you exact numbers?

edit: not everyone is doing it, but there are a few successful swaps with the 2jz, and alot of talk about individuals wanting to do the 2jz swap, etc.

outofstep: i appreciate your participation but really you are just replying to an off topic comment anyway. what that guy said about everyone running out and doing a 2jz swap had nothing to do with the context of this post.

anyhow, im pretty sure you're right anyway about the 7m head flowing more than that 2jz-GE head. oh well, tough luck.. the 2jz-GE had has an insane amount of room for porting. anyway, i just to tradeoff head flow for a strong all around motor design.

you can add me to the list of mkIII guys doing a 2jz swap.

Do you guys know if you can put the top of a 1JZ-GTE on a 2JZ-GE block. Seems this would be a great alternative to buying a turbocharger kit at $4000.00 . Clips are 2500.00 and you could sell off a bunch of parts to help defray the cost. I've got a 95 2JZ-GE begging to have a turbo or two.

since i am doing a 650 hp big single build up anyway, switching to a 1jz head is not exactly the practical thing for me. still requires custom manifolds, etc.

so, update time:

i finally have the motor mounts and 1jz-r154 bell housing coming to drop the motor into the car.. still waiting on the head to get machined, and intake mani completed..
im starting to worry about one thing though: how the 7m ECU will control knock.. i know the timing maps arent as aggresive on the 7m ECU, however the knock control ALSO isnt as aggressive.
i wonder if engine noise between the 2jz and 7m is simular?
