Ok, that sounds resonable. Is there much labor involved with installation, and also should I bother doing this? My car has 70,000 miles, is it about time? I just heard the nice, tight brand new feeling that comes after installation is very enjoyable.

At 70000 miles I would think your mounts are fine. I am not sure of the labor involved with installing these. I am not sure if you would some how need to slightly lift the engine to do so. I have yet to find anyone that know about this problem on the 400 it is supposedly a common problem but no one really has any experience on it. I have done every search possibble and come up with nothing, maybe if we keep this thread going long enough we will find someone that knows. Or that has a service book and can check the procedure for us.

Default keep it going

We need to keep this thread going until someone that has done this on a 400. I only know that the lexus ones are $104 each because I called and asked the parts dept. ( they might be $140 if I got the numbers mixed up ) I don't think that there would be any toyota mounts for our cars as or 1uz is not like anything in a regular toyota. Maybe the LS would have similar mounts but they would probably be the same price anyway. It does seem to be a common problem but again I have never heard of anyone that has had it done themselves. The price for the mounts seem reasonable but I am wondering if it is a DIY or maybe th elabor is expensive.

HELP

Check planetsoarer.com for information on this the aussies are VERY resourceful. According to them the engine mounts are 150 each (probably australian?) and the transmission mount is the same. To do this you need to put a jack stand under the engine from what I understand to support its weight and replace each mount one at a time. A shop that could do it for 150-200 would be reasonable enough for me.

To change the motor mounts. You will have raise the engine up from the oil pan. Remember to put a 2x4 under it. Remove the 17mm bolts that hold the mounts to the crossmember. You will need a lift to do this. Very dangerous doing this on a jack.

OK here goes
Retail price for these mounts from Lexus are
Right $140.20
Left $104.84
Trans $74.47

There we go I would happly pay $150 for labor so now we have a $ amount to stick on this job.
I will have a lift in the next few weeks so I will do the job and then post the DIY version or what problems are involved.
