Default Tbelt price list !!!!

OK so I am either tackling the Timing belt myself soon or having a certfied lexus tech do it after hours, also a good import shop here that would do it for me for $425 labor only.
Just got prices for the parts and whoa !!!
Timing belt $174.08
Tensioner $67.26
Idler assembly $128.71
water pump $123.42
Cap for 2 $26.74
Rotors for 2 $59.92
Total $580.13 !!!!!

I am sure I forgot parts too
what about seals didn't include them.
Allready done plugs, didn't include wires ( would like to replace as I seem to replace everything I can get my hands on )

Damn that is expensive for parts, are these prices too high or were my expectations just too low ?

Wait at the dealer here they will change the Tbelt for me for $900 parts and labor
but get this $700 !!!!!!! for the labor on the water pump change and I asked "even though they are allready in there ?" and they said yes.
OK so now they are telling me that for $1500 they change everything, water pump, seals, tensioners everything.
Looks like I am going the after hours lexus tech, I actually met him here on this board.

U should check into getting service manuals and then you could do everything yourself. By doing it yourself... you could save money and have the manuals pay for themselves with the first job. Just a suggestion.

yeah there is one of the best articles i have ever seen on ALSC about changing the timing belt. Here is my problem.
I just changed a timing chain on a licoln town car and it was a pain in the ***, After researching this doesn't seem as hard. I do like to do my own work on my car but this is pretty extensive. I will probably end up doing it myself. Only info I don't have is about the seals, is that in the manual too. ?
I will keep you guys posted on what I do.
PEACE

Thumbs up

I'll second that.
Patrick hooked me up with a Serp belt for 21.11 (because he had to charge me CAL sales tax).

For the PS pump, I personally would stick with a new oem replacement, seems a decent percentage of the remans don't end up feeling the same. For SC3's Gates has a part for the timing belt, paid like nineteen bucks for it, T215 if I remember, no idea if they have a unit for the SC4 though, that thing is huge....first time I took it apart I thought it looked like a blower belt. Don't forget the little bolts on the bottom of the distributor covers on the SC4, easy to miss them and get aggravated.

That sounds about right for the dealer "let me bend you over and stick it in your xxx" prices. I got quoted $1800 for a 90K service which includes the timing belt replacement. Id do it myself, but I dont have a garage. I opted for the "go find a friend who's a lexus tech" route and hired him for a sidejob.

Good luck.

has any one ever compared prices for service at a Lexus dealership within a certain area to see who is cheaper?...because i do...i must save thousands by driving an extra 50 miles away to get stuff done...my dealer 50 miles away quoted me the 120k service and the T-belt change for 1180.00...and thats before he was gonna throw in the Parts.com prices for all of the parts...so it might be around 900.00....the T-belt alone is that much..

Agreed, the dealer will rape you. I've had nothing but bad bad experiences with them. You can tackle that 90k svce yourself, it's not bad.
