Post PCV value question

what is a PCV value?

and is it true that it can help stop oil from leaking, causing your engine to burn it up and creating bluish smoke in you exhaust?

how hard is it to check your value seal and guides for oil leak?

Positive Crankcase Ventilation valve, I don't think it will help or cause anything you mentioned but is a piece of cake to replace and costs like $3 so if it eases your mind put a new on in, I did. If you shake it and it rattles then it is still good.

Keep in mind the OEM valve is made of metal and many $3 replacement valves are made of plastic. There's another thread on CL where I and others discussed cleaning the OEM vs. replacing it.

Got a new PCV valve from pep boys and it is exactly the same as oem (steel)

either way it sounds like you have a problem that is unrelated to the pcv valve.

I replaced mine with an OEM one. For less than $10, why would anyone 9no offense hotboy) not spend the extra dollar to get an oem part? Anyway, I replaced it b/c it was time and I have a small RMS leak. Changing the valve helped a little with my leak.
