Installed S-AFC on a bone stock SC400 today
Well I had a spare S-AFC around so I decided to get modding today on the SC400 since I haven't had much time in the last few months to do much of anything and I had a spare day.
Well the install was easy and took 3.5 hours only becuase I disassebled the center console area to route the wires where I wanted them. When I first turned on the car with the S-AFC I immediately reset my SC300 turbo settings and did the following.
Intake type Karman
Cylinders 4
Reading with arrow up
No changes to the air signal
It took a bit of time for the SC to realize what was happening to it and the idle was sporadic for a while but then went back to a smooth idle. I have not since seen the same problem. It is a little bit off when very cold but oh well.
Anyway I borrowed the following settings from VSsc400 to check them out.
1000RPM = -2%
2000RPM = -3%
2500RPM = -4%
3000RPM = -5%
4000RPM = -6%
5000RPM = -7%
6000RPM = -8%
6500RPM = -6%
Throttle Point
Lo = 10%
Hi = 60%
Starting off was pretty good but then at 5500 rpm, <cough>, the car cut power and knocked. I added more fuel to that curve up high and then it was fine. If I drive the car and it is warmed up though the settings from before are just fine.
Newer settings
1000RPM = -2%
2000RPM = -3%
2500RPM = -4%
3000RPM = -5%
4000RPM = -6%
5000RPM = -5%
6000RPM = -4%
6500RPM = -3%
I will continue to butt dyno the car until I hear knock over the next few days. Once I get my modded exhaust back from my SC300 I will try and retrofit it to my Sc400 and maybe fabricate some headers if the V8 headers in the group buy don't ever come through. I wish there was a dyno in NW Arkansas to do some tests.

There is no dyno here. The engine will only get trashed over a long period of time with the settings I tried. I have dealt much worse punishment on an engine. It is not like a turbo car when you start pinging you beat the heck out of it. I am confident the settings I have right now are safe. This is not the first time I tuned a SC400 in this manner and that car has been running fine and strong for a few years. I am very careful and if I sense any kind of trouble I back down the settings. I am a strong advocate of getting something dyno tuned if you have read my posts in the past. If i had a dyno close by I would have already been there but there is not. With the amount of time I spend with work getting three or four consecutive hours of free time even on weekends is really hard to do and forget weekdays.

Seriously I would go with an AEM and also get rid of the MAS. It may cost a little bit more but the advantages of not having your car stall when you let off the gas too quick or the HP gains when you can manage timing really well are huge. NA I dont mind the S-AFC only but with forced induction I hope I will never have to deal with that again.

I agree. S-afc + turbo is shyte. Additional injector controller or anything else that sees boost is better. Simple digital systems, Haltech, or AEM - AEM is high end though. Haltech goes from simple additional injector controller F5 to complete standalone ek6 or whatever they are on now. Little harder to get support on Haltech though I think. Simple digital systems has impressed me. No need for a laptop. Good price - customers seem satisfied.
