Default EGR questions

This is a pic of the headers being sold in Australia for the Soarer 4.0. They do not have the EGR down there but we need one here for smog and to pass inspection. The pic shows where the EGR (copper tube) lines up with the headers. How difficult would it be to weld a flange to connect the new headers and the EGR? Will it pass smog and inspection?

When my mechanic was installing my aftermarket headers from AUS for my US sc400, he had to bolt up and remove the headers approximately 8 times to line up the EGR with his custom flange for the headers.

He didn't say it was fun nor easy

And here's a post with them installed on a US sc400. First pic is the EGR. Just scroll through the post.

Once you got them on, any problem with smog or inspection? We've almost got California emmision standards here so I'm a little concerned about spending the money and then not being able to drive.

BTW, what part of Maryland are you in? I lived in Reisterstown for a couple years before moving to Vegas.

I'm near DC. I'm kinda sure where Reistertown is.

I passed smog in NY since my car is registered there.

But as for California inspection, I have no idea. With my set up, there is no way I would pass the noise laws you guys got out there. My set up is extremely loud (think old school muscle cars). On paper, if you have the EGR intact and cats, there shouldn't be a reason why you wouldn't pass smog.

I'm already pretty loud with no resonators and straight thru mufflers. I'll probably add some good resonators when I redo the exhaust.

Thanks for your help verylost. Reisterstown is west of Baltimore so it's kinda in your area.

Ahh now I remember where Reistertown is. When I used to go to college in Bmore I would buy my oil filters from the lexus dealer in Reistertown. They had the cheapest price in MD that I know of.

To give you a estimate on how loud my car is, I set off car alarms in my parking garage at work

A truck down the street from my house had a pretty sensitive alarm so I'd drive past about 100ft or so and then give the SC some gas. The exhaust would set off his alarm at like 1am. Every night we tried to get a little further away to see how far we could get and still set it off. My neighbors hate me

I miss MD. I have a ton of family around Baltimore and Northern VA. It's been about 17 years since I moved here and I still have fond memories. The best was when the whole family was together and we'd get a couple bushels of blue crabs and a couple cases of beer. I was 12 so I didn't get too much beer but it was still a cool way to spend a weekend.

I love it here too.

I know of at least 4 drag strips and one race track near me (at least 2 which are 45 minutes from me and even more about an hour away). The public transportation is great which means I only have to drive when it's sunny and only sunny otherwise I take the metro. I get a touch of the south from Virginia but just close enough to the city life in DC and NYC.

And I can't forget that SRT and PFS are right around the corner ( a great is300 rivalry between the shops).

I'm gonna miss it when I have to leave MD at the end of this year.
