Making SC Faster
With $500 to spend, what can I do to my 1996 Automatic SC300 to make it faster?? Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

$500 ?
Try some racing stripes and a NOS sticker. That's about what you'll get for that kind of money on an SC.
Tiny little tidbit's of power can be tweaked with simple stuff like intakes, exaust, etc...
if you really want the SC to perform better save another $500 and put it with it and go for a tune up. That's the best thing you can do for your sc for more power under $2k

a G-note for a tune up?? Yowzers! I guess I really am a cheapo. I found brand new OEM Lexus plugs and wires on ebay for $75 shipped, bought a new cap and rotor from the dealer for under $35, got an oil change from Cabe Toyota of LB for $25, cleaned my Injen intake myself with some $6.99 K&N filter cleaner, I even managed to buy a nice new air freshner! I then paid a buddy $50 to help me throw all the parts in (he actually did 99% of the work, I just asked hella questions and held stuff for him). Went to the gas station and filled up the tank after pouring in some of that injector cleaner and voila! The car ran great!...I only had to spend about $250 on the whole she-bang, and it DID make a huge difference. Hunt around for deals if you can, it only took me about 3 days to get together all my parts...

mike... he wasn't talking about a tune up. I think he's talking about a new TC, Apexi-SAFC or something along those lines.
just forget it all, get a built AT with a simple T62 That'll be a good for maybe a second or two in the 1/4 mile.

a FULL Lexus dealer 100,00 mile tuneup, including suspension and steering bushings change and all is $1,100.00

This includes all control arm bushings? Last time I checked the installation of all control arm bushings was 700 alone, without parts from an independent shop, which means a lexus dealer would probably want like $14,000

There's much more than just the basics involved in a tune-up. I personally think dealers may skip things that should be replaced more often. Then again, maybe they forget, or people don't want to pay (most likely the case).
What should be done at 100,000 miles probably involves more than what the dealer does, and at their rates would probably be more than $1,100. Depending on the dealer blah etc..then again I don't work at a dealer, nor do I know the labor rates. Just guesses.
