My message: Will the RMM Intake and exhaust work fit on a 1998 SC400 (1UZ-FE VVT-i)? What contstrains keep the SC from utilizing the supercharger?
Their Reply: The intake and exhaust will not work on the 98 model. The ECU is a major culprit in preventing modification. Sorry.

Hmmmm. Works with the GS400 98 VVT-I ECU <----
Interesting statement as the RMM SC does not come bundled with any engine management... you need to add something to take full advantage of available power (most do S-AFC, I have a custom SRT ECU on mine).

Good point Dave! Perhaps the piggy back SRT chip or some type of custom SAFC, etc. will work with a supercharger. I am quite sure the ECU for my car is very similar to yours but I guess there are a few subtle differences. Essentially, the fuel curves must be about 20-25% +/- adjustable with these boost levels (5.5-7psi) in order to lean out the fuel mixture accordingly. Anyway, I still have a little more time reseach this heavily before I decide to add some forced induction to my ride anyway. Heck with $, I can do anything to my car. Too bad my $ is kinda tight now
. I am planning to do some exhaust work, engine/tranny mounts, and replace by brake rotors/pads in the next few months. Once the maintenance is done, I will possibly lower the car and enhance the supension a bit then I'll put some new wheels and tires on her.

Ok I don't know if this is a stupid idea, but.. if the '98 GS400 and the '98 SC400 have the same exact engine and tranny, couldn't we just replace the '98 SC400 ECU with a '98 GS400 ECU?
What do you guys think?
At some point (after I finish making car payments) I will want a supercharger for my '98 SC400.

Theoretically, you are correct. I was thinking the same thing. Does anyone know if this will work? I don't see why not. I think the intake/fuel mappings or transmission settings for the two ECU's couldn't be that different. But if this is the case, why even change the ECU? People need to make more performance parts for the "true" Lexus' sports car too
. The only problem is that only 3000 or so of the VVT-i 1UZ-FE SC400's were ever made. The market is small for our cars that companies will not waste their time or $ with R&D for some type of FI application.
