Conversion / Upgrade questions?
I am contemplating the 97'-00' conversion for my 92sc300 as well as a turbo installation... My car had a brand new motor installed 35k ago although the rest of the car presently has160k on it... This fact along with my love of the overall solidity of these vehicles has lead me to decide to keep this car for now although I like the newer styling better. (i was inches away from landing a 99' or 00' sc but kept mine because the engine runs so beautifully)
I always wondered if the resale or trade in value of our cars is diminished if the vehicle has a different body style, bodykit or aftermarket turbo on it??
Is the simple answer to return it to stock upon selling or trading?
Does a lower mileage motor make it a better candidate for turbo upgrades and can my auto tranny hold up to a turbo?

Dee,
Upgrades and mods will badly effect the resale value if you are trading your car in. If you sell it yourself then it can be a good selling point. The trick is to find someone who actually wants the mods you have on the car, cuz some people will try and use them in a negative way to drop the price.
Bear in mind if you decide to sell and go back to stock it's gonna be a real pain to replace everything. It is usually easier just to leave everything on that doesn't bolt on.
Even on a Lexus I would be hesitant to start putting serious money into a car with 160k. Not that I don't have faith in Lexus, but mods are gonna make it even harder on the car.
As for the other questions I will leave someone else to answer.
Peace,
Jonny
