nope!!! none of our engine and freind's engine has benn touched internally ever.. on my 245K engine I even ran with stock plug with 10psi for 3 month.. hehe.. but you shouldnt be..
well after 350 to 400rpw range, you will start to having a tranny problem.. none of 2jz NA transmission parts are desighed for the forced induction. 5 speed or auto.. if you want to keep the auto, go with BL tranny or SP one. if you want mannal. go with getrag 6 speed.
I am not saying you cant have a 400rwp with stock tranny.. but it is matter of time to break .
block is pretty strong if you tune your car property.
if you want to extra safety on you, buy TT pistons or buy a TT short block. good for alot of power

why would you want to lower your displacement. dont waste your money into the 1jz .. you already have a good block.. if you really want to swap something instead of your NA.. useTT.
trust me on that..

well i figured it would be better to use a block that was designed for turbo, and it would probably rev faster due to its shorter stroke. and its probably way cheeper than a 2jzgte block. anybody have personal expierence?

as long as the valve stems are ok; i dont see a reason why you'd need to rebuild for only 500hp

if it blows who cares, buy a shortblock off ebay for $100-$200, i see them going for that price all the time... saw a jspec clip 2jzge go for $350 a couple months ago... jspec motor uses MAP and different injectors; but you can still swap the short block over; it'd be prettyeasy relatively speaking

Aite, I found out that my car just had its head gaskets replaced. So I believe it is safe to go turbo now. Any recommendations how much PSI to run on a 200k+ engine?

sorry, that question is too vague
you DO understand mileage is not a factor right?

your compression ratio, timing, fuel trim, and fuel quality ARE

93 octane, stock compression, timing retarded 2 degrees, can boost around 10-12psi no problem
100 octane, stock compression, stock timing, can boost around 12-15psi
these also assume you are running adequate fuel

lowering the compression is a new ballgame

Well the only reason I keep referring to the mileage is because I dont want the engine, which already has been put through so much stress, to break down because of the boost. I understand that compression is important and I need to get it tested. I just want to be sure that I'm not wasting money on a turbo when the engine is not up to par to handle it. I just want to spend around 5k for the turbo. I am still debating whether I should just save up big time and go with the 2jz-gte. Its about double the price, but its a better engine with more potential.

well like bean keep saying.. it can handle 400 500 easy on NA.. IT depands on good compression, tunning. I have doen NA-T for two cars and have seen many people has turboing their car.. have no issue. if you still dont like the block then just buy a TT if that will make you feel better..

I think Im going to stick with this engine. Thanks guys. I'll get the compression checked out to see if its ok to turbo.
