El Cheapo battery?

I would get a second and third opinion on that alternator...Local discount stores dont' seem to know jack....Bring it to a trustworthy mechanic and have it checked...

Sounds like the alternator. Try cleaning the contacts on the ground on the alternator, as well as making sure they wires are good. Clean/replace the contacts for the posts on the battery, and make sure all grounds are solid.

sounds like something i had going on about a month ago. my battery discharge light came on, so the first thought was the alternator. once the alternator came out of my car, opened it up and checked for issues. i'm not sure if this is your problem too, but my fix totalled about $8 for the alternator parts. i also got a new battery, but that was more of something that had to be done eventually anyway, so it was a good time for me to do it. you might want to try cleaning the contacts to your battery if you've never done that as well.
