Question Question on 95 SC300 water pump

Hey guys. I just have a quick question. I took my car to my mechanic because coolant was leaking.

The water pump is going bad. He said they have two types of water pump. A 10-bolt and 11-bolt.

He suggests that i bring the car in and take out the old water pump and order the right one, but i don't have

time for that. Can you guys tell me which water pump i need? 10 - bolt or 11 - bolt??

My guess is that this question would be better answered in the maintenance section. . . You could also trying using the search button, if you haven't already. Wish I could help! Good luck!

I can tell you this. The water pump takes 10mm, 12mm, and a 14mm socket to remove. Also, it takes a large ammount of force to remove the crank pulley to get to it. In other words, replace the timing belt, thermostat, and water pump all at once because it takes a bit of effort to get to it all. It is also best to remove the whole pump, other than try to replace just parts of it. If i remember correctly, a block flange blocks a removal of a 10mm bolt, so you have to remove everything. Scrape the old gasket off! Also, use blue locktite on the studs of the water pump. If you have any questions, PM me.
