hey,
recently i noticed my car wouldn't shift out of park. the interesting thing was, i looked for the manual override button but it wasnt there -- just the hole where it used to be -- so the only way i can get the car out of park when i turn it on is by jamming a pen down the hole to "push" the button so to speak, at the moment. has anyone had this problem before, that they couldnt get their car out of park without hitting the manual override button? does anyone know why this is and/or how to fix this? my apologies if this thread has come up before, but i used the search function and couldnt find much.

interestingly enough about 5 years ago my entire rear section of the lights went out (hazard, signal and brake). I can't remember what was replaced but that caused for the car not to shift out of park. After i got it fixed i was able to shift out of park without the override.
by the way.. get the override fixed. That could be a problem.
