It will be very difficult to find a full swap with 6 speed tranny for even $5k. Good luck.

Here is the basic list of what i needed just to get my GTE swap on the road, not including any real performance modifications and no labor costs:

Item / Retail

2jz-gte $3,500
Getrag $1,500
clutch, etc $700
driveshaft $500
Lsd $500
rebuild kit $800
Oil pump $150
Water pump $120
Oil Pan reuse GE
mounts $150
FAL fans $200
usdm 550 injectors $150
injector resistor $100
walbro pump $100
usdm harness $850
hks vpc $700
apexi safc $300
usdm ecu $300
tach conversion $40
custom ic piping $200
spearco fmic $550
bov $200

total $10,710

Now i'm sure you can cheap out and knock another few $k off, but in the long run, you'r gonna need those parts anyways.

Uh oh, turning into another "TT swap for <$5k" thread.

This is getting ready to go down hill

Wink

Well you can always go steal an mkiv TT, swap it all over and blow up the chassis and the rest of the evidence. That would be under $5k, haha.

And that is why all of the TTs have Salvage titles.

i concur... just finding a coomplete 2jzgte for under 5g with teh getrag would be hard

let's say we can find one for 5k... we still have at the very least:

clutch-700 (can't trust the old clutch unless you know the history)
walbro pump - 110
US harness - 400 (is there anyway to extend the JDM harness?)
US spec ECU - 450 (if you go with the US spec harness)
custom IC - $$$

i'm thinking about just getting the 2jzgte motor... and getting the R154 tranny...

Just curious as to why everyone wants the JDM 2JZ motor? I thought that the US and Euro-spec 2JZ's had a bigger fuelling system (which I always though was the biggest difference between the JDM and US/Euro-spec 2JZ's)??

ummagawd, for that price range (about $5000) I'd be looking at the 1JZ with an auto (plus fitting), the R154 (from a Soarer) is pretty hard to find, and when you do find one, the person selling usually wants your house for it =\

Because the JDM is cheaper. Upgrading injectors is a given anyway ...

This is what I'm thinking too. might as well go JDM

I'll want bigger injectors so that fixxed.

The J-spec cams, gone, pretty sure I'll go HKS

The ceramic turbos that self destruct, big deal, I want a big single.

I now have a modded US spec GTE with the mod I would have done anyway.

ECU, I'll go AEM anyways so I'll only need the US wiring harness.

This all make sense to me. That is if I can afford it all at once. Which may not be the case. So I might have to suffer for a bit.
