Hmmm...we need to just find somewhere that we can just host the file for download....anyone know where we could do that?

Sorry to go OT and for the shameless plug, but I have a stock sc300 air box for sale in the classifieds forum, if anyone is interested. Perfect for a BFI!

I read this review in PC magazine, and thought of the BFI, and doing the heatsheild in CAD, and having a machine shop do it up... you beat me to it, here's the link.

Do we want to try to get a group buy together?

SupraCoup3, thats a GREAT idea

It would be great if we could get all the pieces designed out in AutoCAD perfectly and then have them machine them. I wish my copy of AutoCAD Inventor didnt go bad, would be a LOT easier to design this stuff. Well, I guess someone that I am sending the AutoCAD file to will need to refine it when they do their BFI.

There may be some value in having the top cover professionally made, but as for the bottom scoop, which almost no one will see, the most cost-effective way to make it will remain just slicing up a piece of scrap coreplast with a box cutter, using the template already available from Paul, Peter or mteele.

In fact, when you steal that plastic sign off of someone's lawn, the scoop then knows it is hot property, and works harder to give you that final, extra 1 horsepower out of this mod!

I used some copper pipe insulator and super glued it around part of the cover to get a tigher seal on the air box, turned out real nice. Like Perry said, its not a perfect fit. Just plot this template out, tape it to some cardboard, cut it out, and go fromthere.

Im heading to bed, I'll export it to JPEG format for those who need it that way. For those using AutoCAD, feel free to take what I did and make it better with the correct curves, more precise measurements, and stuff like that. Just let us know so we can redistribute it

Calvin, I gave up on the egg cups, just went with the previous BFI designs

Oh, and ONe21, you think I could get some of that heat shield stuff? I have been looking around here where I live and cant find any. And if you did the BFI pieces in carbon fiber....I'll be the first to buy an extra set from you
I haven't got a chance to check and see how much heat shield material that I have, but I need to make sure there is enough for me first. My mom likes to throw my dads stuff away when she cleans... so we'll see. My brother also wants to make an enclosure for his turbo on his MR2 (some guy did it on the MR2 forums and it looks pretty good.) It may be a while before I get to go over there and dig, but I'll let you know.

As for the carbon fiber... I KNOW he doesn't have any at this point, but if someone where he works screws up a reverser shell, then we'll be good to go
