Velocity Stacks
The link above is to velocity stacks that are fairly cheap on summint that you guys could use for the BFI box. i noticed them in my summit catelog and was thinking about using them on a cold air intake box for my gte swap. theres no pics on the site but there were pictures in the catelog and it shows that they were made to go over cone filters on cold air intake applications.

I just did my BFI mod like yours after seeing these pics, and it really killed my low end. Guess this isn't the right way to do it for an SC400?
Oh well, maybe I'll just shell out the money for a CAI

NEVERMIND. Just realized there was plexiglass and insulation to prevent engine heat from getting inside. I guess it helps to RTFT.
Yeah, some pics of where you installed that insulation would be great.

Crate and Barrel had some promising-looking stainless bowls last time I went in there, but I just cut most of the front of my intake off and covered it with an opaque cover. I used the plastic lid from a Rubbermaid box, it had a good rough texture to look stock and it took some black vinyl paint very well to match the engine bay. Very flexible, cuts with scissors or a razorknife, cheap, and easy to locate.

did you do the other parts of it too or just the box itself? Remember that most of the difference youll see is if you have directed air into that area via moving the plastic piece in the center air dam down then directing the air into the intake area otherwise youre drawing the same ambient air as with a fiilter intake.

after reading up on this mod, i realize now why its probably the best intake mod you can do to an SC. done properly you're esentially creating a CAI thats far more effective than any cone filter. but you have to make sure you duct the air from right under the grille to the box and insulate all the engine heat otherwise its going to be very ineffective

I know it's been a little while since this thread has been up, but I was wondering if those pics of where the insulation tape went are up...and has anyone found a source for the metal egg cups? or even those rupper ones would be nice...I've been searching all over the place, and can't find tem

i don't know if anyone has tried this besides me but i used tootchpaste to polish up one of my headlights on my SC300. The light looked dead and the guy I bought it from reccomended a new headlight as it was completely fogged up...
3 mins with a soft cloth and some toothpaste and the fog polished right out. The other side of the car has a brand new headlight and while there is still a slight difference, it looks almost new.

WOW!!! Toothpaste works AWESOME, I just went out to my garage and tried it and I polished MAYBE 1 minute, and its MUCH MUCH better, going to do a better job tomorrow, its about 1:30am right now.
I can't compare to using any other polish/method, but in less than a minute ALOT of the fogging came off.
