Hey Guys sorry ive been AFK for awile lol, anyways just wanted to post the finished sunroof panel, i made it out of an aluminum sheet from Lowes and used rivets and some silicone to seal the edges, it looks awesome in my opinion and it weights nothing!
Also i threw on my new Origin side skirts that everyone seems to confuse with the 97+ side skirts, i prefer them way better than the oem + skirts they look aggressive, it took alot of shaving but when i got them on i was beyond happy. Im happy with the progress of the build, some serious work is soon to come
bigwhite when you had it done does it look OEM or is there a flat spot where the sunroof used to be? because the sunroof glass is not exactly flat.. i will probably go your route, gotta find a place that is willing to do it first.
for now i bolted the stock glass in place and siliconed it. as close to oem as it gets and gets me the headroom for helmet.
The 12 disc CD changer is 9 lb 3 oz, including the cartridge. I figured the 10.0 lb that has been reported couldn't be much more than a rough estimate... I finally have one of my own to confirm.
Wasnt there also a piece of electronics that went with it upon deletion. Plugged into the wiring harness and the changer. Im guessing thats the extra ounces.

Not that I've seen. Why would something that fills it upon deletion be part of the non-deleted total?

I'm betting on poor measurement methods. Most people are using bathroom scales and reporting to the half pound or full pound, leading to very mediocre precision.
Here's a pretty random one for VVTi SC400 owners: The VVTi exhaust weighs ~3.5 lbs more than that of the non-VVTi's.
I had my custom exhaust, from the factory front y-pipe to the axlebacks (so, the center and rear resonators section) switched from the '94 to the '98 last week and had the opportunity to weigh them both. The obvious difference is the VVTI's bigger rear resonators with the side entrances. I didn't measure them side by side, but the '98 might have also went to bigger diameter pipes after the second y-pipe.
So, if you have a '98-00 SC400, you could save a few pounds by putting on a '92-00 exhaust. Or, you could save even more vs an earlier model by going to a custom setup. My savings on the '98 were 9.0 lbs on the center section and 9.5 lbs on the axlebacks. (The mufflers weigh the same on both.) Granted, it's the least significant place to cut weight, being down low and teetering toward the back half of the car, but 18.5 lbs is nothing to scoff at.
Love weight saving threads. My stock auto sc300 weighed in at 3470 with the below items removed/added for a total of 120lbs savings.
mufflers
spare with tools
cruise control
supra TT front brakes
cd changer
The car is still slow at 225hp and hard to tell if its any quicker but its fun to drive.
i changed the stock sc400 with heat seats to supra TT seats... both leather... supra seats much lighter.
the CF hood lowers the weight a lot. I think just from the seats and the hood I dropped some 125lbs to 150lbs.. (if anyone's removed the stock seat you know what I mean)
I have a 97 sc300 and was interested in replacing my hood and seats. Do you know if the MK4 supra seats will bolt right in without modification? Also, which CF hood would you recommend?

Yes, they're direct replacements.
VSsc400's estimate was rather on the high side. The stock seats and hood weigh 180-190 lbs total. Supra seats are probably 60 lbs combined (not 100% positive about that, but somewhere in that ballpark), and the average CF hood is around 30 lbs. That makes the total savings 100 lbs tops, but more likely 80-90 lbs.
