im pulling and tugging and it doesnt want to come off.. what should i do
Take some pliers and clamp down nice and firm onto the end. With one hand on the pliers, and one on the stick, pretend like you're snapping a pencil and bring your hands together. You are essentially twisting the cup 90 degrees so the edge bears on the shaft and keep it from moving. Continue twisting the cup into the shaft and it will pop itself out of the ball as it has no where else to go.

God how to explain this. SCREW it, lemme draw a pic.

It SUCKS (lol) but here, a quickie):

thanks! got it to work, very easy with that method^. I kept trying to pull it, cut it, wedge it out, etc.. that was probably the longest part. Anyway, car runs great now, i'd recommend everyone with a 92-94 SC to do this.. worth your money and time. Check out pics below.. it was filthy!

No prob guys, and as for getting the bushing off, I actually took a steak knife and cut it down the center and was then able to pry it off much easier, but Clean's technique works. Either way, this fix is definitely worth your time

PS. You think someone could sticky this somewhere or is that just asking too much

I think the 95+ gearbox is made better (as far as that little part.), and if you were able to swap that part there wouldn’t be as much of a difference.

I've talked to guys with new is300's and they have the same problem.... it seems to be the tranny ... but if you haven't tried redline or royal purple syncro max it helps.

iv'e run both and prefer the royal purple syncro max.

Alright, speakin of all this fluid business, I am now recommending against Redline MT-90, or rather switching my recommendation to GM Synchromesh. It costs $10 quart at GM dealers and $5 at autozone. Its a synthetic manual tranny fluid that alot of supra guys and almost all DSM guys use. I just switched and HOYL CRAP it feels so much better. The shifts are so much slicker and smoother than they were with redline. Also, its a GL-4 80W fluid so it works fine for our trannies

Default can I do this with my 5sp ES300?

I realize this is a SC thread. But there's not many 5speed ES300s on the board. I have the notchy and loose shifts on my car and have been trying to get rid of it. I'm switching to MT-90 soon, and asked about the shifter bushings at the toyota dealership and they said that there was none. We looked through the computer to try to find it, yet couldn't find it. It's a E53 or E153 transmission.

Can anybody tell me whether those shifter bushings are there or not? and if they are how I can find the part numbers for it.

I did the job today, took me about an hour, I spent like 10 minutes trying to take the plastic trim off around the shifter because I was afraid of snapping it in half. I didn't have a shifter seat anymore, no real traces of it either, just a little gunk here and there. The shifter feels really weird now, maybe cause I've never experienced shifting in a new car. One weird thing is that, before the fix, if I moved the shifter left and right and let go, it would pop back to the middle; but now, the shifter seems to stay on either side, is this normal?
