I have a question. when you put the green thing into the tranny do you line it up like a + or a X shape? I put it in as a +.

what i've seen mkiii people doing is removing the dampener piece of the shifter, shortening the throw a little bit. it works and ur shifter will sit lower as well but you will need to buy a new **** since there are no threads on shifter now.

I was just wondering also, if it does matter if its + or X? will it make shifting any different

i don't remember my part having a + or an x (since i bought mine from marlin crawler). but it did have a grove that was needed to install/go underneath the 2 horizontal knubs...so i would say +.

These things don't last. Maybe 3 years depending on your style. Check 'em every few years.

Someone should machine these out of Delrin or nylon.

EDIT: Someone does. Look at that.

I just bought the green and white bushing from Toyota of Dallas yesterday.
Green shifter seat - 33505-35020 @ $12.12
White shifter bushing - 33548-31010 @ $5.14
Just finished replacing the parts on my 92 SC300. The white bushing is easy to identify as mine is still in good condition but difficult to remove. The Green seat is gone and seperated from the black rubber. And remember to remove the old rubber before installing the green seat. I topped up the grear oil from the hole. Cleaned the shifter spring and greased them. Lastly I padded some powder on the rubber boot before putting everything back in order. The result is WOW. So crispy and tight. I highly recommend all 5 speed owner to try this. Thanks CL and all who had contributed to the site.

I was questioning my mechanic skills when I couldn't just lift the shifter out of place when all the bolts were removed.... HAD I JUST KEPT READING!!!!!! DAMMIT! WASTE OF TIME AND MONEY! IF YOU HAVE A 95 + W58 THIS WILL NOT WORK!!!!!!!
