Nice power. Did your 5 spd explode, or did you just swap to the 6 spd to get it over with? The GE is alot stronger than what others think. DaveH's has to be making over 800whp easy.

 

was this done with a TT rear end or stock?

 

from what i've read, the ge head flow's better than the gte head. So i'm thinking, mod for mod the ge should make more hp? does anyone know if this is true? also why wouldn't the ge be just as strong as the gte? the internals are almost the same with the exception of oil squirters. or so i have read? someone please correct me if i'm wrong, I have no exp in this besides from what i've read from sf. Thanks

 

Yes this is true!! Larry from "Sound Performance" told me to do a na-t rather than the TT motor swap!! He said if anything just change the ge block to the gte block. But the head does flow better. The v v t-i flows even better!! That stock tranny won't last to long though. Then it will be 6-speed time!!!

I decided in the beginning to do a 6spd,diff,axles, and AEM. I did not want any band-aids. I do not even have any guages in the car. I only have a Blitz SBc-ID, which has a nice display for boost and a AEM wideband tied into one of the display functions of the SBC-ID with the optional harness.

 

So the Getrag 6spd bolts right up to the ole GE? Any mods needed, or is it a direct bolt on?

I believe you also have to use a GTE flywheel(which bolts right up to the GE), and a 6speed clutch. Some guys say they have to do a little bit of hammering in the tranny tunnel as the getrag is slighty larger than the W58. Also you must get a custom driveshaft made, or use a 6speed shaft/rear end. But other than that, yes...the 6-speed does bolt right up to the GE

 

The car has 43,000 on the odometer. I did no mods to the tunnel. The only thing I don't like is the shifter sitting farther back than the 5 spd shifter. Kinda hits the plastic in 2nd,4th,6th, and reverse. The drive shaft is a extended stock 6 spd two piece. I have seen to many problems with the one piece units. Pretty tough bucking up for the transmission and then a slave cylinder, fork, shifter and a complete clutch system. I also had to do some extensive modifications to the rear suspension to eliminate the popping. I learned this from SW's 97 T71 monster.

That is a hot clean car! What kind of suspension is on that and are those 18 or 19 inch SSRs?

Thanks, I have Tein HA coilovers(supra), TRD Big *** Swaybars(supra), and 18x8 and 18x9 SSR's. The 275's on the rear are useless until 4th gear.
