Default How to cure lifter noise?

Title says it all. My SC300 makes some noise but generally quiets down at operating temps. Although at WOT, gets a little noisy. My other car, a Rav4, sounds like a bag of nails. Any tips on how to go about quieting this down? What to look for? Tune-ups (plugs, serp belt, wires) have been done, no leaking fluids, regular maintenance on all fluids on both cars. Just wondering...

How many miles and what kind of oil are you using?

1993 SC300 with 95,000 miles. Used Mobil 1 5W-30 or 10W-30 untila bout 85k, then switched to Valvoline MaxLife 10W-40 or Mobil's new synthetic blend 10W-40. Seems to quiet the car a bit. changed fluids every 3-5k, depending on whether I used sythetic of dyno oil. Haven't done timing belt yet...

The Toyota is a 1999 Rav4 with 38k miles on it. Just had 30k service done and everything checked out fine. My girl had everything done at dealer at regular intervals. Now I am changing the oil every 4k miles with 5W-30 synthetic blend, either Mobil 1 or Valvoline.
