What a lot of guys that do the A340E~R154 conversion do (at least for a little while) is run the factory 1JZ auto ECU (the manul still functions with it, no one's had problems with it). The only thing I see not working is the dash to ECU (JDM dash everyone knows about).

how would the dash to ecu plugs not work? they are supposed to be plug and play...
now granted some of the sensors might be different and the instrument box computer might not know how to interpret the signals... but most of it should work

I believe so, yes... but the stock auto is even more fragile than the stock 5-speed

Sry for bumping this thread but it seems to be the most informative on the R154 Tranny . I was reading that the 95+ came with r154 trannys so does that mean if you buy a 95+ you shouldnt run into the problem of bashing the tranny well or matching the bellhousing to the 1jz ?

Or

Does it just give you the hands up on having the r154 tranny and the rear end and all you need is the 1jz r154 bellhousing correct ? Or am I missing something. Thanks for any help

No, no toyota vehicle in the united states ever came with the R154 except the 1987-1992 Toyota Supra Turbo.

The 95 SC chassis and above have a larger tranny tunnel. I don't think it matters though since its the shifter position that is causing people problems; not the tunnel being big enough.

Get an R154 tranny, then you need a 1jz flywheel, 7m clutch setup, and a 1jz R154 bellhousing (call an importer, they are available for JZA70 supras all day long).
You also need the supporting stuff; like a custom driveshaft, R154 slave cylinder, etc

Sry I was getting it confused a lil b/c I noticed that for some reason they offer short shifter for 95+ sc's but not anything below. So instinct said to me maybe it was a r154, my mistake sry.
