Are the 2JZ and 1JZ block really identical? I know the main difference is 3.0L vs. 2.5L. Is that just due to a difference in stroke? Or are the blocks completely different?

As far as I know, just a difference in stroke.

Block is identical, the difference is the stroke and piston. 2JZ piston have special coating on the side to reduce friction. Both piston are same size. However 1JZ have bigger exhaust valve (1mm) and better flow head which good for big turbo set up.

I haven't seen proof.. such as a flow test, got anything to back that up?

I show you some more stang with 2JZ . Not my car though. Hope you like it.

About the flow rate. I don't see any one have test stock 1jz and 2jz head b4 but I think that bigger exe. valve will allow more gas flow.

The 1.5JZ is typically an upgrade carried out on cars fitted with the 1JZ motor (like the JDM Soarer 2.5Ltr Twin Turbo). You install the 2JZ block complete with internals gaining 500cc over the 1JZ and a stronger bottom end. This allows you to utilise all the existing wiring/ancillaries that are fitted to the 1JZ.

The 1JZ head is reputed to be better flowing than the 2JZ but I have never seen any proof of this.

Does anyone have a full parts list though? Any members with a 1.5 swap?

Update info:

Blocks are physically different in size pertaining to height... why?

The cranks are the same from the 1jz to 2jz, the pistons supposedly are too; the only difference is the rods; obviously the length
since the crankshaft is the same, to extend the stroke of a motor (without banging into the head), you have to increase the total block height...
1jz might be able to be stroked to a 3.0, but it would require a custom crank and rods... definitely NOT doable by just swapping in the 2jz internals... gotta swap the whole shortblock (timing belt included!)
