Sorry to bring this old thread back but I wanted to chime in with my experience with chips or "boxes". I brought my turboed integra to this place to get fixed because it was running pretty rich. the place i brought it to has what they call a "black box" if you asked anyone there what it did, no one would tell you because they didnt want their secret getting out. well they wire one into my car, now keep in mine i was already running rich with 450cc injectors and had it down to -35% across the boards on the vafc. so these guys put in their blck box which doesnt tell you anything, no light or anything to tell you whether or not it is getting power and thus working. well after getting my car back i still have the same injectors in only now i at +8 and higher across the boards on the vafc. so the car is now putting out about 30 more hp (dyno proven) but the thing is that the car would just die at random if it was at an idle. the blamed it on wiring, the wiring of the vafc of course, not their product. so i get home and one day the car is just insanely rich, im guessing their product wasnt getting power or whatever because it was running so rich i couldnt even drive it. i ended up needing a valve adjustment and ripped out that black box and went back to the "hack" i was running before. the moral of that whole post is that i will never again use anything that i do not completely understand what it does.
Also does anyone else find it funny that in that description he says "Why pay $20 for a $.02 resistor in a box?!?" when that is exactly what he was doing to people?
