Very cool engine, a friend wants to put one in his older, lightweight Lotus esprit.

torque man!!! Unless it is built fully for race purpose. JGTC supras had them before but they switch to V8s now!

i didnt read all the posts, but it seems like a lot of people are against it. i dont see what the big deal is. every single supra in the JGTC has the 3s motor in it. they are regulated, and therefor cant run with the 2j. dont believe me, look it up. i figure as close to the supra as our car is, it cant be that bad. just takes time and money, and above all else... lots and lots of research. i would go for it.... seriously

yeah, go ahead and make a race car Its fine if thats the issue... but you can bet they WOULD have used the 2jz or 1uz if they had the option to

Finding parts for a 1jz being hard is a MYTH... people who claim so havent done enough research and havent taken a look at the current market to see what aftermarket stuff is already available in the states...

there is deffinately a reason why toyota picked the motors for the SC and soarer that they did.... its because they kick a$$!! but if you want to be different and build something for the track, then the 3S is the way to go! but good luck trying to get a manual for the install

the reason why JGTC supras use the 3sgte is because they are limited to 300 & 500hp, its pointless to use an engine that is heavier and is way capable of over 1000hp. The 3sgte block cracks at about 800hp.

i would never put money into an engine that small. if i would put money into a new swap it would either be a v8 TT or a rb26

This would be a pointless swap, look into a 1JZ, 2JZGTE, or NA-T if your looking for boost and power.
Not true i know of a couple 3sgte motors in ae86 corolla makeing good power
perfect swap no doable yes .

the only reason for the swap would be to reduce weight up front and allow the vehicle to corner better. the weight distribution on the SC isnt that great with the 2JZ or 1UZ.
