If you have auto trans, Check and see if heat deflector above the tranny has been left off the car.

Solution to problem may be to reinstall a heat deflector and buy a good trans oil cooler.

Yeah I get that too. Especially after long road trips and a full night of racing. I think I will put in a new Heat Deflector after I do my auto to 5speed swap.

Default Heat Insulator

The heat deflector is for insulating heat from your exhaust.

It is directly above the muffler that is immediately behind your trans.
Some times mechanics forget to install this insulator and you end up with a very hot transmission tunnel.

If you are missing this insulator adding a trans cooler will not solve your problem.

You only need drop the exhaust centre pipe to install this insulator, it is held on by 4 nuts.
It is about a 20 minute job to install one of these insulators.

They can usually be had at an auto wreckers.
