it may not let you go into karman setting because some other setting may be set to hotwire or flap only applicable setting.

reset the S-AFC and try again

Dennis,

That is what I was thinking. It lets me go into every other one apart from Karmann so I am guessing there is a setting that will not allow Karman to work with it.

I was going to go today to do it but it is about to rain.

Still not sure about my air flow problem though

Thx man,
Jonny

turn the key to on position (but don't crank the engine)
re-initialize the S-AFC
turn the key to off position
check to see if you can go to Karman setting

Default Air Flow Signal/Sensor

Guys,

I installed my S-AFC and everything was registering except for my Air Flow Signal. I checked the right wire was tapped and the connection was tight. So, after a while I gave up and started driving home. Then my CEL comes on. It goes off about 15 minutes later.

I go back to the shop today to see if I can get it fixed. I disconnect the wires and re-connect them, but it still isn't registering any airflow. So, I use different connectors and still no luck.

I then decide to check the hard code and come to find out it is 31 - Air Flow Sensor.

So obviously the 2 are related. But, I had never had a problem with it before and it only happened after I installed the S-AFC.

Can anyone work out what the problem may be??

Thx,
Jonny

Dennis,

Thank you man. I sent you 3 separate pictures as they are all 2.5mb +.

Let me know that you have received them as they may be too big to be accepted at your email. If you come up with anything let me know,

peace man,
Jonny

I was looking at the pictures you sent me...... to what is the white wire attached to? The white wire from the S-AFC should not be attached to anything.

Dennis,

The white wire is not connected to anything. It is taped off.

The pink is connected to the green/yellow wire which is supposed to be the Air Flow Signal wire, and the orange is connected to the other side of the AFS wire.

Confusing huh~! Thx for your help and patience,

Jonny

i see it now. the pink wire looked like white wire from the picture

so currently you are unable to change the ECU type to Karman and you are not getting any RPM signal?

you are also supposed to set the arrow should be from bottom left to top right.

let me know what else is not working

Dennis,

I sorted out the Karman setting. For Karmann, there are no sensor numbers so unlike the others where you select it, you don't have to go through and choose numbers. So the setting is taken care of.

My RPM signal is working - it is my air flow signal that is not working. So, the SAFC is not showing any air going through the car - which is obviously incorrect because the car would be running awful if the computer doesn't know how much airflow to let in.

Yes, I have the arrow set the way you said. I did the voltage check and came up with that.

So basically, everything apart from my AirFlow Signal is working. This is interesting because this is the one wire that you have to cut. I was thinking that a possible voltage drop because the wires are cut could be the culprit but I strongly doubt it. It should at least get some reading but my airflow just shows zero.

I have checked numerous times that I am on the correct wire that the diagram says I should be on. I have checked from both the right and the left and am 100% sure that the yellow/green wire is correct. I even checked at the MAF and the yellow/green goes through there.

The tuner guy said that he thinks the diagram may be wrong and that it should be one of the other wires. However, everything else was correct so it confuses me

Let me know if you have any ideas,

Peace man,
Jonny

you have everything wired correctly. You should NOT be seeing airflow on your S-AFC with Karman type ECU

On page 7 of the manual it tells you that only Hot Wire/Flap will display Air Flow usage %

you are all set to go.

Hmm, this is interesting. My dyno guy said he can't tune it without having the airflow

Now I am very confused!! He said he could try and do it by adding and removing fuel by the sound of the engine, but he has never heard of doing it without airflow .
