Default Old shifter design on newer SC300?

Is it possible, to say, have a 1999 SC300, with the older shifter style, commonly seen on the 1995 models? I've found a car with that (looking to buy), and I'm scratching my head on how that could be possible.

That's what I was thinking too, but look at this weirdness on Ebay:

ebay

I've ran a CarFax on it, it comes back clean (for whatever that is worth), and is indeed identified as a '99 model, yet it has the old shifter.

Ask him to send you a picture of the console lit up - that would be a better indication.

Personally I think this guy is full of ****. He can't spell worth a damn, his writing is atrocious, and who in the world would let a 99 SC300 that is black go for $8000.

This seems like a scam. Not to mention that he has ZERO feedback.

Yeah, I hear what you are saying. I'm highly suspicious myself. Saying you'll take $8K is suspicious enough, then that weird shifter that shouldn't be there--I'm not exactly running to take a look at this one.

OK,

Just looked in their showroom and called the phone number listed - the woman told me that it is the wrong number. Also, they mention a showroom but have one car listed and no feedback. Not to mention they only signed up for ebay 3 days ago

I'd stay well away from this.

it's not a 99 SC300, it have 95-96 bumpers, no side skirts, 95-96 tailights, plus 99 SC had 3spoke steering wheel, stay away from this buy looks like a big scam

Yeah, and in 3 other places in the auction it says 1999. Someone who hasn't already used it, go to the classifieds, go to great deals, click on the free carfax, click on the link ( don't worry about it saying not authorized) and type in the info and see what the VIN says.

Yes, but it's formally listed as a '99 model, and the seller's description describes it as such. Carfax also reports the VIN as a '99 model. I'm thinking there is some monkeying going on here, a hodepodge SC using a clean VIN.

Even more confusing is that the needles are AMBER, not red and the backlight is vanilla, not amber. Would have to be a '93 to achieve that. Can't be a 92 because of the pass airbag.

That car does not have a 95-96 front bumper... its a 92-94 front bumper

I'd bet money its a 93 or 94
