sc300 a/t to manual 1jz Q's?
hey all, this is my first post on these forums... whats up!
i have a few q's so here goes....
i have a 94 sc300 A/T and am trying to get a supra 1jz front clip 5 speed and was wondering if that tranny setup would work? and could i use anything (master cyl, clutch pedal assy.) on the front clip for the manual swap?
or do i have to find all the parts in junk yards/dealer? and if so are they hard to find? and for how much?
also are the bolt holes and everything already there for the pedal assy. and master cyl. on an auto?
Thanks for any help, i also searched some so be easy on me.

a supra front clip would be a waste of money. the oil pan and tranny are both different from that of a soarer. wait till you find a soarer clip or just get a motor set from a soarer. you will need US spec clutch and break paddals from an SC300 as well. they are available at the dealer and are not that expensive. you may find a lot of info via a thorough search. welcome to the club.

No that is not true!
the oil pan setup on the JZA70 and the JZZ30 is identical. Its the JZX series cars that are different
However, the wiring harness is different and you will need a custom driveshaft...
not to mention the hydraulic fan on the JZA70 vs the clutchfan on the soarer
soarer clips are also much cheaper too since they always come with auto trannies

I picked up my 1992 soarer 1jzgte motor set for 1260 with shipping off ebay from JhotExports in GA. Motor with 60k mi, tranny, all accessories, wire harness, smic, complete set. No ecu, but a/t 1jz ecu's are dime a dozen already located plenty of em. Theres nothing wrong with an automatic off the 1jz, chinos basically stock car ran 13.5's on the 3rd pass ever. Plus if you ever get into real power, instead of buying a $5000 v160 6spd, u can run a GM TH400 with a nice big *** stall converter

well i really would like a manual, and the front clip in particular i was looking at was the one from jarco.... it comes with the rear end, driveshaft, manual tranny and everything else...
so even if it came with all that i would still need a custom driveshaft, etc? and does that tranny fit correctly?
and could some one clear up the dispute about the oilpan?
thank you.

i thought the oil pan was different on the mkIII and the soraer 1JZs. i may be wrong, but thats what i thought. you will still need a drivethaft, and the tail shaft for the trans from a soarer R154. i think thats about it. someone correct me if im wrong.

not to mention with that completely custom setup, u gotta remember what parts you used and where when stuff breaks. If your sticking with stock hp (under 400), why not just use a stock sc3 5spd?
I'm very agenst manual trannys in an SC300. Dont flame me but, 99.9% soarers came with auto trannys also for one reason. Its a luxury car, not a all out sports car. Anyways, with a TH400, big stall converter, no manual tranny will touch the car on the 1/4mi.

Thank you..
-1jz bellhousing
-1jz flywheel
-MKIII Supra Turbo clutch
-MKIII Supra Turbo transmission (R154) <-- a dime a dozen
-correct driveshaft (not sure if there's a direct swap item or not, i doubt it)
Thats assuming you dont already have a 5-speed SC300 like me In that case the W58 bolts right up to it.

Man, you guys are all over the place with info, so let me clear some things up
The bellsouthing and shifter assembly is different between the 2 versions of the R154.
slamdawg54, do NOT buy a supra front clip. Most of the stuff you listed like driveshaft, rear end, etc. would be nothing but giant paper weights for you. Not to mention the nightmare of figuring out thier wiring harness to adapt it to the SC. Your best bet is to either buy a Soarer front clip, or a complete motorset. Personally, I went with the clip. It makes things a whole lot easier and you know you'll have everything you need.
If you are dead set on a 5-speed in the car though, check the thread I just made in the classifieds section Complete conversion is for sale, by yours truely.
