sorry...just found this thread...thought I'd throw my $0.02 in as well...

yeah, the voltage stabilizers are essentially nothing more than a fancy capacitor...with a cool looking LED light to tell you that it's working...

I put one, about the same time I installed my TeckKits grounding wires, and the combination of the two really did help out...I didn't dyno or anything, but everything seemed to operate smoother. In a SC400, its a little tough to find room to mount the voltage stabilizer (unless you get one of those tiny ones from Japan), but I think the spot I found is as good as any. I used 3M double sided tape to stick it on the side of the battery sleeve, and it's been there for about 6 months (in the Southern California desert heat), and no problems...here's a pic...you can kinda see it (red arrow pointing at LED)

what brand voltage stabilizer did you use?

also... a little update.... i took my car to autozone to get the alt tested... and it turns out that my new alt isn't putting out the power it should be

unfortunately I've only got a 90 day warranty... so looks like i need to get a new alt.

the one I got was off of eBay...i think the brand was NRG (e-pac)...I'll double check. Since it's essentially just a capacitor, the technology isn't very complicated, so one voltage stabilizer is pretty much the same as the next.

meh, quick and poor mans method. caps to regulate voltage and inductor to regulate current
battery
+ ---------------------------------()()()()()()---------------- +
| inductor
= 1farad cap load
|
- -------------------------------------------------------------- -

the only problem i would see is maybe if you dont tune it correctly you much make the circuit resonate, too lazy to do calculations, google the calculations for frequency. as for an inductor, dont even buy make one out of normal copper wire (rated to 1.5 times at least to current rating of course.)

Good information in this thread.

I’m pretty sure I could build my own grounding wires. What I’m not sure of is what lalaland wrote in his reply…

I slapped a voltage stabilizer (It was the e-pac NR-G from ebay) on my GS400 about 3 months ago and did notice the car was smoother all around. My brother put one on his car as well which is an IS300 and he said the same thing. I definetly think its worth getting.

My buddy installed the apexi system on his focus svt and he picked up 15+ miles per full tank. If simillar gains are the same with other cars, it would just pay itself off over time just from the extra gas milage.

i was looking at this one http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/3000G...60310679QQrdZ1

its half the price of the epac NRG one and comes with a grounding kit
