Changing exhaust piping on 1jz
i live in a bad area with cops all over the place and the last thing i want to go through again is seeing the state ref. i recently swapped in a 1jz and i wanted to do a 3 inch piping all the way to the stock muffler. is it pointless since its still running to a stock muffler? thanks in advance

I don't think it's a waste Lex Luthor put 585rwhp to the ground through 3" exhaust piping, no cats, and OEM mufflers.
You can swap out the mufflers with a near OEM replacement using double offset Magnaflows. They're straight through (i.e. no baffles), have a slightly thinner profile, and sound just like stock. I had them installed with the OEM exhaust tips welded on, and I'm *very* happy with the whole setup. I'll try to post a pic tonight of my setup.

Do it...... Its not pointless...... Your going to be pushing the exhaust gases out faster and without the cat and resonators it will be better flowing as well.......

Isn't it illegal not to have a cat in the US? I know here in Australia you get hit with massive fines if you don't have one fitted.
What I've seen people do is change the muffler but fit the factory tips.
