Easier said than done! But thanks for the encouragement. Yea, we're taking the oil pan off tomorrow...I guess we'll see.

Exclamation

I fear the time is coming to ABANDON SHIP and cancel this entire project . If the engine turns out to be toast tomorrow (due to previous oil starvation while running the engine allegedly caused by not tightening a nut enough on the flange of the Oil pick up tube) , I may sell all my perfectly working NA-T parts and the engine if anyone wants it. I'd like to sell it as a complete package . Who is interested in buying?

Jacky, just pick up another 2jzge complete engine and drop it right in. They are available cheap, in fact guys that do 1jzgte and 2jzgte swaps practically give them away. We just picked one up for derek's SC300 for $350.00.. don't give up now.

I whole-heartedly agree with the other members. Don't get down about this man, you're almost done. This is (probably) the last hill before the finish line.

I wonder if any Texas CL member would be willing to get together with ya and make a weekend out of the repair/engine swap. May as well try to make it at least partially fun.

Thanks for the support guys. I'm skeptical of buying a high mileage cheap 2jz-ge though. I'm not sure it will hold up well to boost. Isn't it better to pay extra like $600 for a 2jz-ge with 60,000 miles on it instead? Or are there any cheaper alternatives?

how many miles did yours have? most 2jz's are pretty much bulletproof in most regards.. just ask the seller the condition when they pulled it out. Look at it this way.. you have the Supra headgasket already..just install it on the new motor before dropping it in. Done deal.

My engine had 88,000 miles on it and was in mint condition .

Interesting Update: So, I recommended to bolt the oil pick up tube up properly, bolt oil pan together just to help piece together the puzzle. The technician noticed I put teflon tape on the oil feed line and he took it off commenting that it can cause oil blockage and that it was the wrong kind of teflon tape. So, after they put it all together, it started and idled a bit before dying again, which they say is because the car is running rich. But the engine sounded buttery smooth. Another mechanic there commented that the engine sounded fine now.

We're waiting for a HKS SSQV BOV flange to be welded onto the intercooler piping. It should be here "any day now" according to the shop. I'm also debating upgrading the clutch at this point since it's unknown how long the w58 5 speed will last at 400rwtq. But, I can only afford $2,100 for someone to perform a getrag swap with me helping if need be. If anyone can help me with that or point me to someone / source , it would be EXTREME help to me and I'd let you drive my car!
...as well as be most appreciative

One thing is certain: I've ended up spending a LOT more money than I originally planned so far .

I've heard that the life span of a W58 attached to a boosted engine greatly depends on the driver and driving style. Most people talk about how the W58 does at the 300 level, not 400. This is telling me that most people don't run the W58 with that much power.

I can't comment on the price range, since I haven't looked into it yet. I'd definitely do some research on the GETRAG before springing for a new clutch on the W58. Also, take into consideration how much you'll have after selling the W58. No reason to scrap it, so may as well sell it to someone who's content with a 5MT swap.

Good news on the engine man.
