Scott,

We're trying to encourge people not to just post 'use search!', but to give an example thread found via search and how you found it, or respond to the question please. We really want to beef up the sense of community for our new members. Not so long ago you got your first answer and somebody helped you out Lets do the same for Jimmy, thanks

Sorry 'bout that Dave. I guess we all have to start somewhere. I'll offer some advice. Mufflers alone are not going to change the sound that much. You need to complement them by removing the resonators if you wish to increase power at all, even by a small amount. The stock USDM mufflers are a straight-through design, and aren't very restrictive all all. The weakest link is the center resonator, and the piping from that point back. The diameter is reduced and it becomes very restrictive. Depending on your budget, either change the piping and mufflers from the catalytic converters back, or, if you have cash to burn, change out the cats as well for high-flow cats. If you can afford to do that, you might as well put in headers as well for even more horsepower gains, as headers alone will provide respectable gains. Personally, I have a custom exhaust setup right now, which I am not very happy with. In the near future I will be going back to stock exhaust. It just isn't as classy anymore when its loud.
