I've driven an SRT-4, hard, and its far from a poor handling vehicle even in stock form. Sure its FWD and if you don't apex properly and power through to fight the understeer it's not going to hold a candle to a decently driven and setup RWD vehicle of similar specs.
The rear end does feel a bit light in high speed sweeping turns like on a freeway overpass but that's natural for a FWD car. The GS is a boat, always has been and always will be.
As for a GS430 beating one at anything aside from luxury options, you kids need to stop lying to yourselves. An '04 GS430 trapped a best of 92mph here in ABQ, a bone stock SRT-4 traps at least 98. Nevermind the price difference.

I've seen several GS430s run ~97-98mph traps... just because you saw ONE run a 92mph trap (my car ran that stock btw) it doesnt mean all of them arent running correctly. Put a set of 22s on them and they run pretty poor mph (as would anything else)

Either way, comparing a $55k luxury sedan to a $20k FWD sporty Duh-mestic is an exercise in absurdity.
I like the SC a hell of a lot better as a car than the SRT-4, don't get me wrong. But I get the impression that almost all of you are both biased against little sCrappy cars like Neons and probably don't have a lot of experience driving FWD in a road course or open track environment. To get the most out of a FWD requires a significantly different approach to driving and if you try to drive it based on RWD experience, particularly from a heavier car like an SC, you're not going to be impressed with how the car behaves, particularly with the light rear end that isn't controllable with the throttle and the massive ammount of understeer. I compensated easily for the steering rack ratio by simply adjusting the seat so that my shoulders were closer to the steering wheel ala autocross style, You need to do the same thing in older Subarus.

blowing off at 1500 rpms=tiny turbo/s
Blowing off gets VERY annoying, especially if you have a RFL or a greddy type s
I have 2 BOVs and you can't even rev my engine and blow off. well, maybe at 6000 RPM
before you hear anything.

With all due respect, I owned a 2004 wingless SRT-4 last year for craps and giggles and the little crap ran 13.96 @ 102 stock... sorry but the GS will not take a stock SRT-4 in the 1/4 or up top....IMHO
