Default 1jz upgrade path

Got my eye on an SC300 and am planning on a 1jz swap. I've been trying to find some reccommended upgrade paths so I can get a feel for what it would cost and how much work would be involved in getting more out of the 1jz 280hp stock level while the engine is still out of the car.
What does it take to reach 300hp, 350hp, 400hp levels both in parts and money?

Thanks, and yes, I'm a noob

i think that the you can get very good power out of the stock twins just by doing bpu mods like front mount intercooler,proper 3inch downpipe n exhaust , lsd and a safc,a boost controller and a tune up. but if your looking at big numbers then a single turbo would be nice or two nice twins

GT35R is my route.. along with 264s, 4in turbo back exhaust, 550s, safc2, and some stupidly big fmic painted black so u cant see it.. one day, maybe early next year. That should produce a nice daily driver.

stock twins are nice, just gotta be careful if you turn the boost up. they're more than enough to have a good time out on the road

Thanks for all the replies. I thought it would involve the obvious stuff like exhaust and engine management. I just didn't know if there was a reccommended path that most people stuck to, or if there were certain products that were "must haves" or "never buy this..."

For around 350hp at the motor...
* Free up intake (pod filter or BFI mod)
* Free up exhaust (I'm planning to run a larger downpipe, hi-flow cat and mid section pipe to the factory Y-split to keep things quiet)
* Fit a bigger intercooler
* Fit an ATF cooler if you have an auto, maybe a shift kit at the same time
* Fit engine management to optimise

Anything above...
* Fit larger injectors (USDM 550cc Supra injectors will usually do the job though lots of people go for the 650cc SARD injectors)
* Big single turbo, take your pick
* Different cams
* 2JZ block for more cc

550 usdm, the jdm's are 440...

Follow my build thread in my signature to possbly get you some reasonable answers. You can prolly cut some short cuts off from mine to better suit you in the parts department and such. I say just keep the stock twins under 12-14 psi for now to save the most $$$, and when these go bad, which they will, then go single in what your budget can withstand. Remember, when you budget 2K, figure 4K for problems and such. I budgeted 7K and spent nearly 10K just in the swap. With the stock twins you should be able to get those power goals with no problem to the wheels. GL...
