im convinced that with $5k cash, i could build a 1J to about mid to upper 600 WHP range. thats with upgrading the turbo and fuel and running a stand alone like AEM EMS or something. i may even be able to get it tuned in that budget. if i were to go na-t with $5k, i dont think i would get as close... i think i would end up replacing a lot of parts on my motor when put under boost.

I was being modest with 500rwhp, and spent alot of $$ on the turbo to get ball bearing. Sure you could get a bigger more hp turbo for cheaper non bb, but the GT35R will be alot more streetable and make the car less of a dyno queen. 1-2k eariler spool can make a big difference on the street.

To make that kinda power with a 1JZ, u dont need AEM.. it can be tuned just fine with just basic electronics. I dont think youll need higher then 550cc injectors either, its a smaller motor, and even the stock 380s make it run rich as heck on 1bar without any fuel computers, most ppl end up leaning the motor out at 14-16psi with an safc. If a 3.0 liter supra can be tuned to run 11s on a stock fuel system with a T76, i dont see why a 1JZ, a smaller motor, would need more fuel.

I guess when i sell my motorcycle, if i ever get a buyer, we will see what a gt35r does on the 1jz

ps: scott i got that guys CL sn.. ill call him later and tell him to bring his daughter to the corner

so now we all agree it would be best for this guy to go 1jz instead of 2jz?

for $5000 budget? heck yes. You wont find a USDM 2JZGTE complete and swap it in for under 5k, if u do, you wont have any $$ left over for mods. Heck u can even get a complete 1JZ swap, and put in GTE pistons in the 2JZGE u took out and make a 1.5 and still have $ left over to mod to get over 500rwhp for 5g's.

Thumbs up

Why should you get much lower gas mileage if you're NA-T? If you tune it for this, it shouldn't be a problem. For me, I like the greater displacement and torque. Also, NA-T is cheaper since I don't have the tools or experience to do the swap. The other advantage is my 2JZ-GE was wonderfully maintained, so I know for a fact it's in excellent condition. In fact, I just tried a new map and got it running..now I'm tracing down a vacuum leak:

well gas comes into play when you go to meets or road trips. want to all ways go somewhere without having to fill up especially on 91 all the time. the torque is great, but the bang for your buck is 1jz. as for the install this guy claims to have the correct tools so if everything is there go for the gully and get the bang for your buck.

Would that count the $2000 to buy/install it? Or would that be another $5000 on top of it?

And does anyone think you could hit 500hp with $5000 by installing a turbo on the 2jz-ge? From what I understand, the engine can handle all the power you want to throw at it.

(you guys are giving GREAT feedback, btw )

So generous.

No, seriously, if someone were to pay for your travel and compensate you for your time, you'd do it?

hahaha, my intercooler costs more than a basic 1JZ swap.

BTW, I'm selling my 830cc injectors if anyone is interested. I'm upgrading to 1000ccs

yea yea yea peter... your intercoolet is MASSIVE! you need those bigger injectors too... you can only break it loose at 60mph... they are deffinately holding you back.

as far as making house calls, lets take that to PM. i would be willing, but i have a partner in crime.
