im with coadtoad. the sc is nice enough that having it as a daily isnt bad. i have a boosted b16 del sol with only 50k on it, only thing is i've grown acustomed to being comfortable and like the perk of not having to mess with either of them. id go with building the sc and keep the civic the way it is. then if you boost the sc or do some major work you can drive the civic around for those few days as the "beater" to get parts for you nicer car. Feels good launch a light and have someone catch up to you at the next asking whats done to the car and you can say "its my beater". brings a smile to my face every time

well the stock 1jzgte in my sc300 is of course 100% daily driver, as it was sold in millions of soarers in the world. 20+mpg, smoooooth powerband, and its actually pretty quiet.

I believed if you have a turbo charge civic, the front stock bumper of the civic must be removed in order to fit the intercooler.

I have no track times yet but I would at least expect low 11's@128-130mph. its very tastefully done, its not your typical **** box ricer. no stickers, wings, etc I have two resonators so it doesnt sound horrid. guages are strategically placed for stealth. BOV is routed back into the intake stream, and the intercooler is anodized black. you cant tell the car is boosted until WOT.

Now I could keep my civic and get a cheap sc300 and do a small turbo setup probably 360+hp. possibly low 400hp. or I could sell the civic and swap in a supra Getrag and shoot for 600+hp.

With the first option I have a very fast daily driver and a decently fast weekend luxury cruiser. with the second option I have a pretty fast car that can double as a daily. what do you think I should do? oh and here is a pic of my current sleeper.

350 hp RWD>500hp FWD...... FWD just isn't nearly as much fun.... I vote you sell the civic and get a big numbers SC

Smile Get an SC300 Man

I was a turbo honda man as well and decided to step up with the Lexus SC. I am doing NA-T and I am sure it will run pretty hard. It is physically a bigger car and it is RWD. The SC is the MKIV substitute.

I have both (actually more than that) I AM STILL A HONDA GUY... I just for some reason love the things? I have a built civic HB w/ Dart Block, PTE61, Hondata, etc... its a 650HP plus car... But I will say this, the SC gets the ladies... I love the hondas but I wouldn't JUST own a honda... I like my honda in the shop, for the "look at this" factor but man the SC is were its at... I would keep the honda and also do a 350HP SC... Since it seems your buget can handle that... By the way I have about 5 hondas... All built to different degrees....

keep the civic

I highly recommend having a daily driver if you plan on doing any major mods. Nothing's worse than breaking your car when you have to drive to work the next day.

I'm not sure I get the question but the answer is no u dont have to replace the bumper. this is basically what they look like with an IC

I'll take fresh pics of mine when I get a chance.

My friend with a small turbo setup you can push up to 400-500hp if done right on an SC300. I would have sold the civic a long time ago and bought the SC. The five speed is fine with me but if I was looking for numbers over 500hp I'd swap out to the 6speed Getrag with the TT bottom end which can go up to 800hp with no problem. I dont think a civic can do that.

no but you dont ever need to build the transmission. stock b series transmissions can hold as much power as you can give them unlike the w58. throw a clutch in and an lsd if yours didnt come with one and you never have to worry again unless you drive hard and wear out the syncros. both cars have their strong points.

here is a good pic of not having to remove the bumper on a honda for an intercooler. i just removed the grill slats so i didnt have to trim all 18 slats slowly to get them to fit.

just build a mild SC. keep the civic and go wild with the power combo, just don't gut it.

Ya know...the del Sol sort of looks like a smaller more compact (and girlier) SC300 lol
